APC Seats installed into My 1994 Mustang. I obtained these seats by doing a small install of an Alluminum Radiator and Intercooler on a Ford Merkur XRTI owned by Mark Edgell. The Drivers seat in the mustang was bent and torn along the entrance side. The seats are lighter than the Ford Seats and are comfortable. |
After removing both seats you will see that the brackets are different. Power Seats have the narrow bolt holes and the passanger (mechanical seat) are much different. The Passanger Seat is an easy go. |
Just drill out the rivets on your existing seat sliders and mount them to a 2"wide rail. Then fasten to the APC Universal Slider.
The driver seat took some extra materials and drilling but is easily doable with basic hand tools. |
Here was my first attempt at laying out the new brackets to fasten the seat. The "U" Channel i made up using two 90 degree 1" inch angle iron. Wasnt going to work. You have to arrange them in a stagger like the front bracket in the photo (left) |
This photo shows you the bottom of the drivers side power seat in a 1994 mustang. As you can see the bolt holes are very close togather.
By making a cross rail for each you can easily mount a new seat. |
The passanger side brackets have been stripped of their feet and here is whats left of them. |
Scribe the cross rails to fit the floor pan shape with a jigsaw and a metal blade. You can do it with a hacksaw but its alot of work.
Next i cut two rails the length of the seat sliders and screwed the sliders onto the 2" metal rails. Using some vice grips as clamps to hold stuff in place while marking and drilling. |
Close up of APC Seat Slider and the general setup to get the seat installed. |
Now the seat base and bracket are screwed togather and ready to be removed from the car and fastened to the APC Seat. |
Both of the Seats are Installed in the Car and the Color scheme looks good with the interior.
This took me about 4hrs of time to do. I used a Hacksaw, Jigsaw, Vice, Clamps and an Electric Drill.
