Drag Racing in Edmonton 2006 First Time at the Race Track!

June 30th 2006 Marks my first "official Drag Racing Event" Leanne and i went out to Budweiser Park (now Castrol Raceway) The car ran 6 passes and mechanically ran flawlessly. It was very exciting and we both had an absolute blast! I AM A TERRIBLE DRIVER LOL!!!! My reaction time was to say the least SLOW!

I would like to share some of the things i learned about getting started your first time drag racing.

Requirements - A Helmet is required S2000 Not a motorcyle helmet but a car racing helmet. I went to JB's Power Center of Fort Road and picked one up for $129.00 you can probably find cheaper but i wanted to race and only had a limited time to look.

• Car and Driver for the Street Series is $25.00
• Spectators are $10.00
• Crew Cheif $10.00

The Flow of how things Go! - May seem very simple but i had no idea what i was doing and felt like dork :>) so let me try to save you the humbling experience of knowing nothing!

Step #1 drive to the very end of the paved road at the turn off, you will come to an indivdual who will have you sign an insurance waver.

Step #2 Proced to Next Booth Pay the Cashier the fee's. She will ask you questions about "Tech" Tech is the guy that comes and inspects your car to ensure you have the right equipment for racing.

Step #3 Proceed to the line of Cars with their hoods open. Fill out the form the payment person gave you and have it ready for the tech inspector. You will have to show him your safety equipment and he will ask you some questions regarding your car.

Step #4 Now you will have the number assigned to your car and can proceed to the line ups for the "tree". Watch for the people directing you into which lane. Soon you will be up to the staging area and burn out box!

Step #5 Street tire (or drag radials) Avoid the water and dont get your tires wet! Beleive me it makes for loss of traction on the line :>) I KNOW LOL

Step #6 Drive up towards the Lights, when you see the first small yellow at the top of the tree light up your getting close to where you need to be. Once the 2nd top yellow light goes on your in position. Wait for the Light and Launch that car!!!!!

Sounds pretty easy but dam if i could do it well! :>)
