On Thursday July 19th 2006 i began installation of my lakewood drive shaft safety loop. The installation is very straight forward, although you will have to remove your seats to bolt it up.

I decided to go with an NHRA approved Drive shaft safety loop. I am still slow but the car has the potential to be running 11's (10's next year) and that means correct safety equipment! |
By placing the large loop over the top of the drive shaft then "ruffling in" the bolt (finger tight) the drive shaft will hold itself in place. |
Once you have your 4 bolts in place and finger tight get the smaller loop (its for the bottom) |
There is lots of room from under the car if you get it nice and high on the jack stands. |
Now the safety loop is to gather and ready for me to mark the holes to be drilled through the floor of the car. |
I put one hole on each side to make sure i had it straight and enough clearance on each side of the drive shaft |
Remove your seats from the car (very easy 4 bolts) under the seats was DISGUSTING! i got out the carpet cleaner and vacuum. |
Finish off the install by torqueing up all your bolts and finish drilling the remaining holes! |
Installing the drive shaft safety loop was very straight forward and a simple project. But it reduce the risk of potential injury at high speeds!
