Autometer Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge Install.

Oil Pressure Gauge Install (Mechanical Gauge) Sorry the pictures came out a bit fuzzy it the digital camera was very cold.

Oil Pressure Guage and Temperature Guage I purchased a couple of Gauges from Mopac Performance on 170th Street In Edmonton. I went with mechanical gauges at the recommendation of the salesman.
Temperature Guague Side View Here is the Side View of the Temperature Gauge I have run into a difficulty and need to get a fitting to fit my manifold. Or drill and tap a new spot for it.

Black Lexan Being Drilled With Holesaw I acquired a piece of Black Plexiglas from a friend. I then removed the black storage box below the stereo. Used it as a template and cut a piece of plexi.
Hole in Bezel Using a 2 Inch hole saw for wood it easily carved a nice hole perfect size for the gauges!
Wiring Up The Bezel With the Guages Wiring up the Connections. I used the 12volt cigarette lighter power, spliced in a line then ran to a toggle switch (for now).
Read to Install Into Console Adding in the mechanical temperature Gauge to the little temp bezel. I spent the few extra minutes to make the wiring nice and clean with proper ends and connectors.

I found a great tutorial online from another mustang site. They detailed this oil pressure Gauge installation very well.

Here is the hardware i used to get the factory Gauge working with the manual oil pressure Gauge I had the hose made at Greg Distributors in Edmonton it cost about $25.00
Using some teflon tape for the threads i installed the 18" braided stainless steel hose.
Next i installed the 1/4" Tee onto the end of the hose.
Remove the wiring harness and find the wire that was originally connected to the factory oil pressure sending unit.
Here is the Tee fitting with the factory oil pressure sending unit and the autometer fittings installed.
Using a longer bolt and a piece of that bendable holed strapping i fastened it to the same bracket as the power steering hose.
Here is a batter angle once it was all tightened up.
Run the wiring over to the harness without it resting against anything with heat.
A few twisties installed onto the wire before i close it up under a protective plastic sleeve.
All of the autometer gauges are now complete and look fantastic. I find it very comforting seeing the exact temperature and oil pressure levels. I have invested a good amount of time and money into my engine.

Summary: I found the mechanical gauges easy to install although i had to purchase a 1 1/16 socket and cut the old sensor off like the other tutorial says. The hole on my intake was also a different size then the mechanical temperature Gauge sensor and required a trip to the hardware store to get an adaptor.

What i know now: Replacing The gauges inside the 1994 SN95 Mustang taught me about the electrical system and oil system, the electric radiator fan is controlled from a different sensor than the gauge it still engages itself at about 200 degree coolant temperature. I will be adding in a second toggle switch to allow manual override on the electric fan.
