Rear Coil Over Suspension Installation(modular mustang rear coil over kit)

After purchasing the products from MMR i was very happy with the condition of the products. The fitment was very good, the packaging was well done and you cant beat $299.00 for the front and rear coil overs.

My intention was to gain some handling on the street to take advantage of my new tires! After looking at regular coil kits i decided for a few dollars more i could improve the handling of the car more efficiently and pick the ride height i wanted for the front and rear vs a spring package. Air ride adjustable is just way to expensive at this time for a normal buy like me!

Rear Coil Over Installation Instructions! By Ed Robinson!

  • Step #1 Remove the battery connection.
  • Step #2 safely block the frame of the vehicle. You will need as much space as you can get to lower the control arms with a floor jack.
  • Step #3 Remove both wheels, so you can access the entire sway bar. Remove the 4 bolts holding it into the lower control arms.
  • Step #4 Use a scissor jack under the axle side you are going to be working on. and a 2nd pair of jack stands under the the axle itself (be safe we tend to get semi buzzed when working on our cars with friends!)
  • Step #5 - Place the floor jack under the lower control arm, lift up slightly to remove any weight from the bolt. Remove the bolt connecting the lower control arm.
  • Step #6 - Lower the jack very slowly while staying out of the way. After we had the spring out we removed the Rear Quad Shock and Vertical Shock.
  • Step #7 Ream the hole if you have to to place the rear lower shock support. Bolt it up to the axle housing.
  • Step #8 Place the Coil over and Shock assembly into position. Tighten the top bolt inside the trunk.
  • Step #9 Place the 3 Washers on Each side of the Lower Bolt Going through the bracket you fastened to the axle. (3 on Each side of the shock 6 per side total, 12 for entire car!)
  • Step #9 Raise the lower Control Arm into Position and Replace the bolt.
  • Step #10 Repeat on other Side.
  • As a reference we used 1.75" from the bottom of the adjustable sleeve as our starting point and the height was just slightly lower than stock.

We (Vic and I) weighed the Coil Over Kit with the Lakewood 50/50 Shocks (14.5 lbs) for the Pair. The coils, rear quad shocks, bolts etc that came out of the car = 25.5 lbs For 11.5 weight reduction in rear suspension weight.
